Commentary on AS 1480, SAA Concrete Structures Code, Part C19: Footings

The requirements with regard to footings are straightforward, being the result more of the application of sound engineering judgment than of any rigorous analysis. Compatible with this, it is permissible to assume that the distribution of soil pressures under a footing other than a pile cap is linear in both directions.
