Quality management systems — Requirements

Specifies requirements for quality management systems, applicable to organizations regardless of size, type, industry, product or service. A quality management system that meets the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 9001 can be used for internal application by organizations, for certification and for contractual purposes. It focuses on the quality management system's effectiveness in meeting customer requirements, and may be used to demonstrate these, prevent nonconformity and address customer satisfaction and quality improvement. This Standard is identical with and has been reproduced from ISO 9001:2000. Organizations which have used AS/NZS ISO 9002:1994 and AS/NZS ISO 9003:1994 may use AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 by excluding certain requirements, in accordance with Clause 1.2. To assist organizations currently using them to make the transition to this edition, AS/NZS ISO 9001:1994, AS/NZS ISO 9002:1994 and AS/NZS ISO 9003:1994 will remain available superseded standards until December 2003.
