The objective of this Standard is to provide manufacturers, designers, regulatory authorities, testing laboratories and similar organizations with safety requirements for the design, manufacture and testing of transformers and power supply units for bells and chimes which can form the basis for approval by regulatory authorities. This Standard will supersede AS/NZS 61558.2.8:2001 three years from the date of publication (i.e. on 29 April 2014). During this period it is anticipated that regulatory authorities will approve transformers and power supply units for bells and chimes to either standard.
