This Standard deals with the safety of electric thermal-storage room heaters for household and similar purposes that are intended to heat the room in which they are located, their rated voltage being not more than 250 volt for single-phase appliances and 480 volt for other appliances. This Standard will supersede AS/NZS 3350.2.61:2001 seven years from the date of publication (i.e. on 17 June 2012). During this seven year period either AS/NZS 3350.2.61:2001 or AS/NZS 60335.2.61:2005 may be used for regulatory purposes in both Australia and New Zealand.
