This International Standard deals with the safety of portable electric heating tools and similar appliances, their rated voltage being not more than 250 volt. Examples of appliances that are within the scope of this Standard are branding tools; glue guns; heat guns; paint strippers; soldering irons. This Standard will supersede AS/NZS 60335.2.45:2004 two years from the date of publication (i.e. on 26 October 2014). During this period it is anticipated that regulatory authorities will approve portable heating tools and similar appliances to either standard.
