Protein adhesives for plywood

This specification provides the methods of test and technical provisions necessary for plywood adhesives manufactured from protein substances. The quality of the adhesives is determined by tests made on wood joints. The failing loads obtained on the test pieces prescrived are not convertible into stress values for design purposes. The protein adhesives covered by this specification are intended for the manufacture of plywood. They may be required for use cold or hot, and are intended for use when the surfaces to be bonded can be brought into close contact by adequate pressure. Some protein plywood adhesives may be required to show some resistance to water and a corresponding type is provided. The protein adhesives covered by this specification shall be identified by the name of the protein constituting the greatest percentage of the composition of the glue base.
