This specification applies to hand operated machines (including means of attachment) used for raising, lowering and supporting scaffolding. It specifies requirements covering materials, factors of safety of materials, design details for the various parts of the scaffolding machine, methods of test, and marking. Procedures for determining capacity requirements, and recommendations on care and safe use of scaffolding machines and on selection of wire ropes, are given in appendices.
