Loads on buried vitrified clay pipes — Commentary (Supplement to AS 4060-1992)

Gives background to AS 4060 and helpful information for design engineers or other appropriately qualified persons and those writing specifications for the installation of vitrified clay pipelines. Emphasis is placed on the need, particularly with non-granular material, for achieving in the field support conditions consistent with the assumptions of which the equations in the Standard are based. An appendix gives worked examples which illustrate the load calculations and how the calculated values are used to select an appropriate crushing strength class of pipes and fittings for a particular pipeline.
