Specifies requirements for the design, installation and operation of emergency electrical supplies for standby power and lighting in hospitals, identifies areas and functions for which emergency supplies are essential and lists the maximum delays that can be tolerated in the restoration of supplies. Appendices include examples of emergency power supply systems and associated maintenance programs. The Standard does not specify the size or type of hospitals that require emergency supplies.
