[Superseded]Personal flotation devices — Type 3
Specifies requirements for Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) which are intended for use in supervised situations during short-term immersion in water during daylight hours. Such PFDs were previously known as 'buoyancy garments' and are intended to be used by water skiers and other people who may be at risk from short-term immersion where assistance is immediately on hand. Adults' and children's PFDs are covered in body mass ranges from 10 kg up. In-water performance tests are included in appendices. Common requirements for PFDs are specified in AS 2259.
