Covers test equipment and conditions of use, and describes preparation of the test surface and test procedures, using visible dye and fluorescent dye penetrants. Procedures include application of penetrant, removal of excess penetrant and application of a developer, interpretation of indications given by the test, and preparation of a test report. Guidelines to purchasers of penetrant testing services, procedures for control of penetrant testing systems, and requirements for recording test results are in appendices.
