[Superseded]Rules for road tank vehicles for flammable liquids
Applies to tank vehicles intended for use on public roads for the transportation of normall stable flammable liquids. Includes requirements for the design and construction of the tank, for the tank fittings and the auxiliary equipment, and for some aspects of the tank vehicle assembly. It is intended to apply to vehicles used for transporting liquids which are classed exclusively as Class 3 in the Model Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods By Load. The standard does not apply to vehicles used for transporting unstable (reactive) flammable liquids which, in the pure state or as commercially produced and transported, are liable to decompose vigorously, polymerize in a way which will create a hazard, or become self-reactive under conditions of shock, pressure or temperature. It also does not apply to tanks used for transporting flammable liquids at temperatures equal to or above boiling points, which should be constructed as pressure vessels.
