Describes general laboratory procedures for cleaning and sterilizing laboratory equipment, and for preparing decimal dilutions of the sample. It also gives detailed descriptions of general techniques such as the pour plate method, surface viable methods, membrane filtration method and the most probable number method, used in the microbiological examination of food. Appendices deal with sterility testing and probability tables.
