[Superseded]Personal flotation devices — Type 1
Specifies requirements for Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) which are intended for use aboard pleasure boats in waters where early rescue may be expected. Such PFDs were previously known as 'lifejackets' and are intended to maintain the wearer in a safe floating position. Adults' and children's PFDs are covered in body mass ranges from 10 kg up. In-water performance tests are included in appendices. Common requirements for PFDs are specified in AS 2259.
